11-10-2021 Edition: 5 Things To Do This Weekend in East Cincinnati

Kicking off the holiday season with fun events around town!

By Lisa Robinson November 10, 2021

1. Visit the “Trains and Traditions” garden exhibit at the Krohn Conservatory which is open daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm. This would be a great activity for after school on Thursday, and you would be beating the crowds that come on the weekends, especially since this is the first weekend the holiday exhibit is available! Although this is an annual holiday show, each year there are new elements to explore. The kids will probably be most excited by the plethora of toy trains chugging along throughout the displays of Cincinnati architecture. There’s even a special “Thomas the Train” one - from the popular TV series! The Krohn Conservatory is located at 1501 Eden Park Drive, along the river on the east side of downtown.

2. A fun experience for Saturday night would be going to an outdoor movie at the Starlite Drive-ins! Watch the new Clifford: The Big Red Dog movie which starts at 7pm, and afterwards family favorite Elf is showing, starting around 8:45pm. Bring blankets and plenty of snacks! There is an open concession stand and restroom facility on premises too. The weather this weekend looks to be a perfect forecast for a fun evening outside in the crisp autumn air. Starlite Drive-in is only showing movies on Saturday night this weekend, and tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Starlet Drive-in is located at 2255 OH-125, in Amelia.

3. If you have little ones, attend the “How to Care for Bunnies” event at Gorman Heritage Farm near Blue Ash on Saturday November 13th at 4:00pm. This interactive activity is sure to be an educational experience for your kiddos who are interested in animals. The farm also features turkeys, sheep, donkeys, pigs, and chickens! Arrive early to walk around and explore, then head to the bunny enclosure in the Children’s Garden by 3:50pm to get a good seat for the farmer’s presentation. All activities take place outdoors, so dress for the weather. Gorman Heritage Farm is located at 10052 Reading Road, in Cincinnati.

4. Are you feeling excited to dive head-first into holiday activities this year? I know I am! Normally my family would wait to do our traditional drive-thru looking at holiday lights until a free night came up between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year, with Hanukkah being early, and us being extra eager to partake in all the holiday festivities, we might just be doing the Coney Night of Lights display more than once! It is now open daily starting at dusk, and tickets can be purchased at the gate. It’s certainly affordable, and given there is so much to see I think going more than once would allow us to really catch all the action. The Coney Island Night of Lights display is located at the park’s parking lot, 6201 Kellogg Avenue, on the east side of Cincinnati. This would make a great ending to a day spend at the Krohn Conservatory also, since they are relatively close to each other!

5. If you live north of Cincinnati, and have children ages 6 and up, consider joining the play group called “Families Connecting with Nature” on Sunday November 14th, 3:00pm at the Liberty Farm Market. The group does art projects, takes a hike, and explores curious minds while interacting with nature. registration is required and there is a fee for this program. Click here for more details on this event. Liberty Farm Market is located at 5850 Princeton Rd, in Liberty Township.
